Our school ISSST 'DEAMBROSIS - NATTA' is in Sestri Levante a town near Genoa in the north-west of Italy |
Our school is divided into two departments: "Liceo" with a science and technology specialization and a Technical School. The latter is then divided into electronics , electrotechnics and mechanics departments. The "Liceo" has 34 hours a week, while at the Technical School there are 36 hours a week. The different departments have different subjects in the last three years while we can find almost the same subjects for the first and second forms but with a different timetable for each subject. Lessons start at 8.05 and finish at 1.15 p.m. from Monday to Saturday. The "Liceo" has fewer hours so for two days a week this department finishes lessons at 12:25. Each lesson lasts 50 minutes. There are not lessons in the afternoon but students can attend some special lessons offered by the school if they need to work hard or if they want to learn something more about a particular subject or topic or improve their skills. |
The Technical school provides a common two-year course then divided into three different departments in the last 3 years.
Subjects of the 3rd year of the course 'Science and Technology Liceo' : |
Summer holidays in Italy usually start on 14th June and finish around the 15th September. There are Christmas and Easter Holidays, where we have 2 weeks holidays in December and one week in April. In Italy, school is compulsory from 5 to 14 years of age. Between the age of 6-11 years all children attend common courses at the primary school. Between the age of 11-14 students attend secod ary middle school. After secondary middle school, students go to high schools and vocational schools. After they can look for a job or go to university. |
ELECTRONICS LAB | |
This is a technical lab that students start to use after the third year of the technical course. It enables them to improve the theory they study for subjects such as electronics, maths and electrotechnics. |
TECHNOLOGY AND DESIGN LAB |
![]() |
This lab is divided into two parts, in the first students make integrated circuits and measure electric devices. In the latter there are a series of computers connected online and in a local network (LAN). |
CHEMISTRY LAB | |
![]() |
This lab uses the instrumentation that students need to complete scientific experiment (not dangerous). |
COMPUTER SYSTEM LAB | |
![]() |
This lab is used from the third year and here students deal with the programming of electric circuits and the use of special software (microsoft visual c++, simatic manager ). There are 15 computer workstations connected together in a LAN; they enable a personal work or also a group activity. In the lab there are also other instruments for electronic work, for example the PLC. |
ELECTROTECHNIC LAB | |

This lab uses the equipment needed to complete electric systems and control their function. There are workstations where students can complete their system in a personal panel; then they give it to the teacher who tests it . |
MECHANICS | |

This laboratory is only used by the students of the Mechanics department; it is divided into four parts: an area for computer design, one for welding, one where students can actually work and, finally, an area where there are machines that enable the numerical control produce pieces through an automation process. |

This laboratory is used during the first and second years of the Technical School; while the students of the ‘Science and Technology Liceo’ use it for the whole course, from the first year until the end of the course. In this laboratory there are a lot of tables on which students can make experiments verifying some of the most important physical laws. |

This laboratory is used to show films, documentaries or historical films to the students; the desks and the chairs in this laboratory are arranged in the same way as the desks of a theatre or of a lecture room in order to provide a better view and a better listening and to let the students watch TV and work on forms or essays in a proper way. |
